A Clean Up Will Keep Your Chin Up!

This morning, one of the things on my list of to do's was to bring my closet back up to the standard that I would like. I found a place in my schedule and went to work. As I was paying attention to details...a hair tie, a comb out of place, clothes- dirty/clean etc... I was thinking, Wow! I am taking "valuable" time to put each one of these little things...seemingly insignificant...in their place or home.

I realized, that as I took this time with all these little details, I was actually investing into my future. There sure have been many times where because something was not in place, I was late or wasted a whole lot of time looking for something -where as when I do regular clean ups in the areas that seem to have pile ups, I keep my chin up. I am encouraged. It is so refreshing to go up to my closet now. (It only took 1/2 hour!) (I'll do an even deeper clean on another day)

On to my nap.

Oh, remember you are a prize...valuable to God and others. Take the time to invest in your own life if any area is out of order and watch what happens.

Champion..Let's go for the gold!

Today, I had help from above!

This morning, when I woke up, I started praying (talking with God) I simply asked the Holy Spirit for His help today and then talked to God about some other things on my heart. I then left and had to drive my daughter Sarah to the airport. On the way home, I realized that I had time to get the bulb changed in my minivan front headlight. I immediately thought of the car place on the corner near our house. As I approached home, on the left, there was another car place that said "open", I thought, oh they could do it there, so I pulled in. As I went in, the gentleman was very matter of fact, kind of cold and said that it would take about an hour to do and that it would be $29.95. He started to put the order in and I said I think I'm going to have to deal with this later...realizing I didn't have an hour. I pulled out and went to the corner place that I had originally thought of and pulled up to be greeted by a friendly young man. He said they could do it no problem. I waited a few minutes for the place to open and had the job done in a few minutes by some cheerful employees for $5.00!
The first situation was not flowing smoothly..cold response, 1 hour, lots of money for a little job,
the second situation, the "thought" that I had at first, was the Holy Spirit helping me and it was obvious...friendly, quick and reasonable.
When Jesus died on the cross, he left the Holy Spirit..He is here and here to help. It's OK and a great thing to ask specifically for His help!
Have a great day!

Go for the Gold!

The reason that I titled this blog "Go for the Gold" is because of the desire that I have in my heart to be the very best that I can be and help others to reach their goals, fulfill dreams and reach their destiny.
My background includes many years of speedskating, running, volleyball, softball and many other activities that challenge you to win. I know what it feels like to lose (and have a picture of it on the sports page of the Chicago Tribune- and I know what its like to win...4 first places on the B team speedskating, qualifying me for the A team) I like winning better!
Actually, my daughter Sarah Barlow gave me the set up of this blog for a Christmas present. She had often read posts on my facebook and thought that I needed to share the ideas and stories in a bigger setting like a blog.
So, here I am, ready to share a lot of stories, ideas, dreams and visions for a successful life. I am going to be real, honest and open, because that is life. Get ready to see your dreams come true.
Join me for "Go for the Gold".
Good night. Time for a good nights sleep.

Welcome!!

Welcome to my new blog! I'm excited to share with you all that God has taught me and put on my heart.
